Introduction Clinical decision support (CDS) displayed in electronic health records (EHRs) has been found to reduce the incidence of medication errors and adverse drug events (ADEs). Recent data suggested that medication-related CDS alerts were frequently overridden, often inappropriately. Patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) are at an increased risk of ADEs; however, limited data exist on the benefits of CDS in the ICU. This study aims to evaluate potential harm associated with medication-related CDS overrides in the ICU.
